Deep Funk in the Forest is run by friends and Mullumbimby Based DJ's and music lovers Erik Adams (aka Sheik Yerbooty), Matthew Bowden (aka The Phunk Phanatik ) and Misha Laurent (aka Dj Shuffle).

This Kohinur Hall gig held in the middle of Upper Main Arm bush started in April 2006 with just the 3 of us DJing rare funk, soul ,latin and disco Grooves.

We straight away got a really good response from the punters who were keen to hear the rump shaking grooves and we decided to do these events a few times a year (The next event will be our 8th). The Concept is simple, good music, good food and good vibes!

Through Shuffle's international connections we were able to secure a few special guest DJ's of international renown most notably the UK legends Keb Darge and Russ Dewbury.

We are dedicated to providing a venue for those of many generations who love the deep sounds of blackness whether it is percussive disco, rare funk , brazilian , or afrobeat grooves Deep Funk in the Forest will always be a simple celebration of good music.

We are proud to be a regular fundraiser for "The Ecuadorian Save a Hectare Project " run by Rainforest Rescue.
